CUSTO BARCELONA
Like some other
monumental fashion heavy weights hailing from Spain (Oscar de la Renta,
Manolo Blahnik and Carolina Hererra) the designers behind Custo Barcelona
have left an undeniable mark on the fashion landscape.
Custo Barcelona was
started in the 1980’s by Custo and David Dalmau and is known for it’s
bright colors and screen-printings. Fueled by their flamboyant Spanish
background and a motorcycle trip around the world, the Dalmau brothers
have created an empire of unique graphics, illustrations, embroidery, and
metallic work. With particular interest in the California lifestyle the
label has knack for using cotton as their canvas of choice to develop tee
shirts, mini skirts, dresses, pants, denim and handbags. The Custo
Barcelona line first gained prominence in Australia and Europe and then
skipped the pond to hit US markets. Their fan base is ever growing and
comprised of stars like Christina Aguilera, Beyonce, Samuel L. Jackson,
Tyson Beckford, Ashlee Simpson and Penelope Cruz. Their clothing has been
worn on American television shows like Queer as Folk, Gilmore Girls and
Friends.
Custo Barcelona’s
distinct colors, swirls and modern splotches have been called a style unto
themselves with the wearer certainly possessing a bright outlook on life.
The label is available in the finest retail shops as well as online at
